How could I vote for Trump?

"How could I vote for Trump? he asked"  It was a serious conversation between two long time colleagues with respect for one another...
Summary Answer:
I voted for the devil that I don't know, over the devil that I did know... based on my hope for change, and possibility of better outcomes. I knew all I needed about what has been done and its outcomes over the last decade or more. Radical change, with its risks, rose to the level of acceptance in my view.. hence my vote. It doesn't mean I'm a Trump supporter. Funny thing is it means I voted for hope and change, as I defined it. Awesome thing is that now, I can criticize the sitting president without being branded a racist or a bigot. My view equaled my vote... as it should be for each of us.
"Each of us has the right to assess the roads which lie ahead and those over which we have traveled, and if the future looms ominous or unpromising, and the roads back uninviting, then we need to gather our resolve and, …

Totalitarian tolerance of free speech.

If you terminate dialogue and discussion with those who disagree with you... that is not tolerance or supporting free speech. That is the behavior of totalitarians/autocracy.  On personal note: If you stop talking/living/working with me or others because we speak our minds, the loss is yours. I don't disconnect because of disagreement.  Your move.
it is sad that this even needs to be written in the United States of America in 2017.

President Obama's protest perspective.

For everyone getting set to protest on Inauguration Day... what the heck are you protesting?

If it is your "belief" that Trump will be a terrible president... or your belief that Hillary should have won... too bad, so sad... elections have consequences. Now is the time to assemble, as Americans... not dissolve into tantrums.

I believed that Obama would be a terrible president, that his policies would not work, that he would tax & spend and tax & spend...and destabilize the US position of strength in the world. I shut up and watched for almost two years... showing respect for the office and the achievement. I watched hope and change dissolve into division and demagoguery. We all lost.

I was proud to see our first black president, just as I would have been proud to see our first female president. Imagine if I had protested... if their had been a "counter inauguration" featuring McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan speeches... I can't see how that would have helpe…

Trump effect on feelings of liberty minded conservatives

#PoliticalReality is this. I feel a need to fully and completely explain my conservative positions and my vote for Trump. I don't like him but in the end it didn't matter...  Even if I reject the premise of being less due to conservatism... I can't just ignore my friends' words. That is hard. My natural inclination is to ground in logic, Embrace emotion afterwards... perhaps as a result of my conservatory training. If I can't reconcile I withdraw to my own experience and gut. I believed he was the way forward and I stand by it.  My business and tech experience have shown me that results and systems change things. Having ideas and being right just isn't enough. A platform to execute is required. Takes people. And resources. Hence party.  So many of My liberal friends condemn me so easily... without reason or logic... the absence is hard to handle in dialogue. Most feel no need to explain their positions beyond ... I'm evil and corrupt and blah blah blah.  In…

Farewell President Obama

Thank you for your service President Obama. I recognize that you meant well. Your family is beautiful. I pray that your future will hold the hope and change you seek. I pray that God will bless you as you seek his direction.

Do actors and actresses in Hollywood really think that they are qualified to discuss governing and leadership? Really? They are talented, but they make their living in fantasy worlds and stories. They win popularity contests as their primary claim to success... The words are written for them. They live in a completely exclusionary world based on perceptions and public relations... morally corrupt, vicious, often cruel... and money is made from these very things.

Ideas and Art are glorious, but they inspire hearts... They are not about results and outcomes. (e.g. Wars, Security, Jobs, Immigration policy, Taxation, Commerce)

Stick to telling stories or run for office and make changes... But stop assuming that because you can act, and millions love your characters... that somehow you have the character to be modeled and followed. Even better, just work in your neighborhood and make a difference.

The one sided arrogance, condescending tones, and irrational arguments are the exact reason …

Truth and Honor

Truth and honor are more than words, but words do matter. Actions just matter more.

We tell lies when we are afraid….afraid of what we don’t know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the thing that we fear grows stronger. ~ Tad Williams

What you get in your life is not a result of what you want, it is a result of Who You Are. ~ Marlon Smith

Truth and Honesty is the oldest and most powerful of all of the human values.
~ Gary King

Integrity is telling myself the Truth. Honesty is telling the Truth to other people.
~ Spencer Johnson

This above all; to thine own self be true. ~ William Shakespeare

If you can not find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of you.
~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
