Day after... a sad state of affairs.
1. We, the conservatives, are completely wrong and the future of our country does indeed lie in big govt, the careful regulation of personal freedoms, and the disintegration of the traditional family model.
2. We have set forth on a path that will so divide the country that there will be no refuge from the deluge. Gov't interventionism will fail millions and millions of people and the world around us may fall into war and further chaos without visionary, strong, and bold leadership. The people will eventually see this failure and reject the long line of grievances perpetuated upon them by the rulers.
In that end, perhaps, the GOP and the DEMS will self destruct and be reformed into a new multiparty system. I seek a party affiliation with libertarian roots.. embracing social liberalism and fiscal conservatism.. allowing gay marriage... but banning abortion. Embracing families and marriage as the core of our communities.. and our communities as the core of a shared prosperous future. Embracing constitutional limited government and complete financial reform.. Naive.. probably..
I reject the premise of all for me, isolationism.. personally and collectively, but I a reminded that morality and common sense cannot be FORCED.. they must be learned... and practiced.
I pray for the future of our country... I pray that America will seek to follow God...
I will continue to make decisions which allow for choices and flexibility for me and my family.. and we will "individually" do all that we can to make a difference for others around us.. one person and day at a time. It is all I've got.. and likely.. it is all I need.. the rest is simply a hobby for ego maniacal tyrants seeking to control others.. I neither wish that nor condone it. I recognize that the country has chosen a path forward. It will be interesting to see if we actually move..
The President's rhetoric last night.. of more "we are more than red, blue.. we are united..." is now 8 years old.. and we are more divided than ever...lots of talk, excuses, blame and well crafted words... but so few results... That is a sad state of affairs.
2 Chronicles 7:11-22
The Message (MSG)
Solomon completed building The Temple of God and the royal palace—the projects he had set his heart on doing. Everything was done—success! Satisfaction!
God appeared to Solomon that very night and said, “I accept your prayer; yes, I have chosen this place as a temple for sacrifice, a house of worship. If I ever shut off the supply of rain from the skies or order the locusts to eat the crops or send a plague on my people, and my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health. From now on I’m alert day and night to the prayers offered at this place. Believe me, I’ve chosen and sanctified this Temple that you have built: My Name is stamped on it forever; my eyes are on it and my heart in it always. As for you, if you live in my presence as your father David lived, pure in heart and action, living the life I’ve set out for you, attentively obedient to my guidance and judgments, then I’ll back your kingly rule over Israel—make it a sure thing on a sure foundation. The same covenant guarantee I gave to David your father I’m giving to you, namely, ‘You can count on always having a descendant on Israel’s throne.’
“But if you or your sons betray me, ignoring my guidance and judgments, taking up with alien gods by serving and worshiping them, then the guarantee is off: I’ll wipe Israel right off the map and repudiate this Temple I’ve just sanctified to honor my Name. And Israel will be nothing but a bad joke among the peoples of the world. And this Temple, splendid as it now is, will become an object of contempt; tourists will shake their heads, saying, ‘What happened here? What’s the story behind these ruins?’ Then they’ll be told, ‘The people who used to live here betrayed their God, the very God who rescued their ancestors from Egypt; they took up with alien gods, worshiping and serving them. That’s what’s behind this God-visited devastation.’”
